Elements and Performance Criteria

1. Prepare for work in processing area
   • Read or listen to work instructions from supervisor and clarify where needed
   • Confirm materials are available to meet operating and food safety requirements
   • Identify and confirm cleaning and maintenance requirements and status
   • Wear appropriate personal protective clothing and ensure correct fit according to work health and safety requirements
2. Prepare the evaporation process for operation
   • Enter processing and operating parameters as required to meet safety and production requirements
   • Check equipment performance and adjust according to operating requirements
   • Carry out pre-start checks according to operator instructions
3. Operate and monitor the evaporation process
   • Start, operate and monitor the process for variation in operating conditions according to work health and safety and operating requirements
   • Identify variation in equipment operation and report maintenance requirements
   • Monitor the process to confirm that specifications are met
   • Identify, rectify and report out-of-specification equipment, product or process outcomes according to workplace requirements
   • Follow and apply workplace cleaning and environmental procedures
4. Shut down the evaporation process
   • Identify the appropriate shutdown procedure
   • Shut the process down safely according to operating procedures
   • Identify and report maintenance requirements
   • Maintain workplace records in appropriate format
